Due to the concomitant ESP congress in Bari, the SIFB organized a “Single-Day SIFB Symposium” online on Monday, April 7, 2025.

This event aimed to engage the entire photobiology community, with a special focus on giving ample space to presentations by young researchers.

2. Young Researcher Awards

The symposium included the presentation of the two annual SIFB awards for outstanding young researchers.

• A research pitch session allowing participants to present their work in a 7-minute talk, followed by a 3-minute discussion.
• Participants were encouraged to present their research outcomes clearly and compellingly to engage the audience.
• Awards: Winners received a reimbursement of their registration fees for the ESP Congress in Bari.

The Scientific Committee evaluated the presentation based on the following criteria:

Clarity and Effectiveness of Communication (50%)

• Ability to clearly convey complex concepts
• Logical structure and coherence of the presentation
• Engagement with the audience

Scientific Content and Relevance (30%)

• Depth and accuracy of the scientific information
• Relevance of the topic to the field of photobiology

Fellowships: three fellowships will be available for fostering young researchers’ participation covering the congress fee and two-night accommodation in Lecce.
Fellowship application must be submitted by April 14^th, 2023 following the procedure reported on our website Sifb. Winners will be notified by April 21^st, 2023.

Dear Colleagues,
We would like to welcome you to the XXXII Congress of the Italian Society of Photobiology – SIFB.
The goal of the congress is to bring together scientists from around the world having a common interest in understanding the relationship between light and the surrounding environment.
Due to the COVID19 pandemic, this year the meeting will take place as a VIRTUAL EVENT from 23^rd to 24^th June.
A selection of leading scientists in the fields of photobiology, photo-pharmacology, photo-dermatology, optoelectronics, etc. has been invited to present their latest research advancements.
We invite all of you to submit abstracts for oral presentation or posters. The latter will be included as an interactive virtual session on the platform. All PIs are asked to encourage their students and postdocs to submit posters for the meeting.

The Società Italiana di Fotobiologia (SIFB) is pleased to welcome you to the 2018 Annual Congress.
This year the Congress will be held in Udine, a small city located in Northeastern Italy, at the centre of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region between the Adriatic Sea and the Alps. This area together with two Austrian regions, Carinthia and Styria, all of Slovenia and the Veneto region is named ALPE-ADRIA.
This is the reason for the name that has been given to the Congress.
The Società Italiana di Fotobiologia is grealy honored to have the opportunity to share the scientific and clinical results on Photobiology and Photodermatology with Experts from Italy and neighboring countries such as Austria and Slovenia.
The key objective of the Meeting is to provide an environment for both early career and senior investigators of different fields related to Photobiology to communicate their last results on relevant scientific topics and establish new interactions and collaborations.

Dear Colleague,
This year the Società Italiana di Fotobiologia (SIFB), the Gruppo Italiano di Fotochimica (GIF), the Société Française de Photobiologie (SFPb) and the Groupe Français de Photochimie, Photophysique et Photosciences (GFP2P) have launched the first Joint Congress of the French and Italian Photochemists and Photobiologists.
The congress will be held in Bari from 19 to 22 September 2016 at the University of Bari “Aldo Moro”, ex-Palazzo delle Poste, Piazza Cesare Battisti, 1.
Bari is the capital of the Italian region of Apulia. It has a well-connected international airport (http://portal.aeroportidipuglia.it/) and is easily reachable from numerous cities across Europe, including Paris and Bruxelles. The airport is very close to the city and is served by buses and metro.

You are kindly invited to join us in beautiful Bari to present your recent scientific results to a stimulating and interested audience. To facilitate the participation of young scientists and students attending the congress either with oral or poster presentation, a large number of fellowships will be available. Two plenary lectures and several keynote lectures will be delivered during numerous joint and parallel sessions covering a wide range of topics on the major streams of photochemical and photobiological sciences and their application.

Registration fee includes access to all scientific sessions and the exhibition/poster/meeting rooms, book of abstracts, coffee breaks and welcome reception.
Pre-registration must be accompanied by a payment otherwise it will not be processed. In all other cases, the on-site registration fee will be taken as a basis.
Requests for refunds must be made in writing to the SIFB Treasurer, address as below. There will be a EUR 25 fee for any registration cancellation. NO REFUNDS HONOURED AFTER 15 AUGUST 2016.

NOTE: Young investigators applying for fellowship must sent the abstract by May 20^th. The selecting committee will evaluate abstracts and communicate decision to applicants by June 10^th.

Fellowships for attending the Congress

The four Societies are pleased to announce that a number of fellowships are available to young photobiologists and photochemists to stimulate their participation in the Joint Congress of the French and Italian Societies for Photochemistry and Photobiology.
NOTE: For young investigators the abstract must be sent before May 20^th to allow the fellowships be assigned from the selecting committee.
The successful candidate must present an oral or poster communication. Fellow will be awarded with the full registration fee, accommodation for three nights at the Hotel Moderno or at the Residence Moderno and a free ticket to the congress social dinner.

INFORMAZIONI SU ISCRIZIONE E PARTECIPAZIONE AL CONGRESSO
La quota di iscrizione al congresso SIFB2015 è fissata in € 102 per personale strutturato ed in € 60 per studenti e personale non strutturato. La quota di iscrizione comprende: partecipazione alle sessioni scientifiche – libro degli Abstract – coffee breaks.
La quota associativa alla SIFB per l’anno 2015 è di € 25 per personale strutturato e di € 15 per studenti e personale non strutturato.
La sottomissione dell’Abstract richiede l’invio contestuale della scheda d’iscrizione entro il 20 Aprile; entrambi devono essere spediti alla Segreteria del Congresso, all’indirizzo info@sifb.it.
La quota di iscrizione al Congresso e la quota associativa SIFB 2015 devono essere pagati preferibilmente mediante bonifico bancario (presso la segreteria del congresso sarà possibile usare esclusivamente contante). BORSE DI STUDIO STUDENTI E GIOVANI RICERCATORI
Il comitato organizzatore ha la possibilità di offrire alcune borse di studio a studenti e ricercatori non strutturati. Le borse comprendono il pernottamento in stanza doppia per le notti del 11 e 12 giugno, il costo dell’iscrizione al congresso e la cena sociale. Tale contributo è erogabile esclusivamente a coloro che presentino una comunicazione orale. Gli interessati sono pregati di richiedere il contributo nella scheda di iscrizione (entro il 20 Aprile), accompagnando la richiesta con un breve CV.
