With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Professor Dmitri Krysko, head of the Cell Death Investigation and Therapy Laboratory at the Cancer Research Institute, Ghent.
Prof. Krysko was an internationally recognized scientist whose work on immunogenic cell death and its application in cancer immunotherapy reshaped the field. His work spanned fundamental and translational science, including significant contributions to understanding how PDT can trigger immunogenic cell death. In 2019, he served as a keynote speaker at the annual congress of the Italian Society of Photobiology, demonstrating his leadership and influence in the field of photobiology and PDT research.
Prof. Krysko’s scientific excellence was widely recognized through numerous prestigious awards.
His passion for research, mentorship, and education made him a valued colleague and an inspiration to many.
His sudden and unexpected loss leaves a deep void among the entire scientific community.
